Vajra & Ghanta Talk Program Presented by Samjwal Bajracharya
During Meeting #1364, Rotary Club of Yala organized Talk Program on “Vajra & Ghanta” presented by Samjwal Bajracharya at Bagaicha Restauran, Jawalakhel.
In Buddhism, the Vajra and Ghanta are often used together in certain practices, held in the right and left hands respectively, to represent the union of wisdom and compassion, or the harmony of male and female energies, as well as to symbolize the path to enlightenment and the attainment of higher spiritual states.
About Speaker
Mr Bajracharya had a background in Geology and served as a Reader (Associate Professor) in Department of Geology, Tri-Chandra Multiple Campus, Tribhuvan University. He had worked as a Remote Sensing Specialist in Glacier Mapping and Monitoring in Geospatial Solutions of ICIMOD. He has started his professional career with ICIMOD in 1999 as a Geomorphologist/GIS Analyst. He had made significant contributions to the inventorying of glaciers and glacial lakes of Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal, and Pakistan, and in the capacity building of regional partners. He had played an instrumental role in developing the methodology for semi-automatic glaciers and glacial lakes mapping and monitoring using remote sensing and GIS applications. In particular, his efforts and contributions towards ascertaining the status of glaciers of Hindu Kush-Himalayas (Afghanistan, Bhutan, China, India, Myanmar, Nepal and Pakistan) are significant. His research studies in the areas of geomorphology, glaciers, glacial lakes, and hazards have resulted in the publication of around 100 papers, including a couple of books and contributions in international research books.
