Kitini Secondary School, Launched Coding & Robotics Curriculum
Kitini Secondary School in Taukhel, Godawari-3, has become the first public school in Lalitpur District to launch a year-long curriculum in Coding and Robotics for its middle school students. As part of this initiative, the Kitini Innovation Lab was inaugurated on October 25, 2024, in a ceremony jointly led by District Governor Rtn. Rajendra Man Sherchan and Mr. Balmukunda Ghimire, Chairman of the School Management Committee. The event was attended by Rotarians from RC Yala, the School Principal and Deputy Principal, teachers, parents, guardians, and students.
Speaking at the event, DG expressed his utmost happiness in witnessing this excellent and impactful initiative spearheaded by the RC Yala, stating that such activities should be prioritized as part of District 3292’s Basic Education Program, for which he pledged to mobilize necessary support. Chairman Mr. Ghimire thanked the Rotarians for introducing the coding and robotics curriculum, which he considers essential for enhancing students’ creativity. He also requested the RC Yala to continue this activity in the future, so that students are not deprived of the opportunity to learn these 21st-century skills vital for their future careers.
In line with its mission to create lasting community impact, RC Yala partnered with Kitini Secondary School to introduce a year-long coding and robotics course for over 60 middle school students. Previously, RC Yala had conducted boot camps in three public schools in Godawari Municipality to gauge interest and feasibility. With technical support from Dursikshya Education Network, the project also established a fully equipped Kitini Innovation Lab, providing essential tools for students to build skills, foster creativity, and apply technology to real-world problems.
