Open 5K Road Race

Purna Laxmi Neupane and Mukesh Bahadur Pal from Tribhuvan Army Club won the open 5-km race organized by Rotary Club of Yala to mark World Tourism Day. Purna Laxmi completed the race in 18 minutes 18.38 seconds, followed by Nirmala KC (18 minutes 20.64 seconds) and Srijana Pandey (18 minutes 29.45 seconds), securing the top three spots for their club.

Mukesh finished the men’s race in 15 minutes 12.75 seconds, with Sanjay Shrestha and Sanjib Nepali placing second and third.

Prizes of Rs 12,000, Rs 8,000, Rs 5,000, and Rs 2,000 were awarded to the top four finishers, while fifth to tenth place winners received Rs 1,000 each. The event, inaugurated by Lalitpur Mayor Chiribabu Maharjan and record runner Baikuntha Manandhar, saw participation from 250 athletes, including 40 women and international competitors. Various dignitaries, including Rotary District Governor Rajendra Man Sherchan, distributed the prizes.
